Here’s a bit of word play for you: Earth Without Art is Eh!
A proposition with which I heartily agree. The bathroom is usually the smallest room in a house, but that’s no reason it can’t be a gallery all the same. That’s why our bathroom, while it has its full complement of faucets and spigots and tub and commode, is also equipped with a range of objets d’art. There are several photographs, a Marimekko shower curtain, and a miniature papier -maché replica of one of Niki de Saint Phalle’s colorful Nanas, a bathing beauty if I ever saw one. Oh, and a resident caretaker! Take a look:

Turns out I was lookin’ for love, and the gallery setting, in all the wrong places! It was in the Dashboard settings, and needed to be turned on. Many thanks to all the viewers who offered tech info and moral support: you’re all wonderful!

One of the reasons I admire you is that you love reds and oranges and Marimekko brights while my smallest room is a mix of pastel watercolory hues. The brightest thing is a small purple crystal hanging at the window. You allow me to enjoy your colors without having to live with them 🙂

This is a great post! My sister is an artist in Alaska, and I have painted entire rooms to create a proper background for her work. Your little gallery is bold and beautiful! Now I want tour of the whole house!

Fun post. I love the bold colors and I agree with Naomi — now a tour of the rest of the house! Your bathroom looks about as small as the (unfinished) bathroom in my house. I’m dreaming up different ways to finish it with bright colors and art work. Always a new idea!

For a small post (like the room), this one is big on fun! I do so approve and agree with art in the bathroom. And your fab Marimekko shower curtain has induced a fit of nostalgia for the time I spent living in Finland – nothing like those bold bright primary colours to counter long dark winters.

I can do collages but am clueless about slide shows – perhaps we should share resources 🙂

Your fab collages are what originally inspired me with deep envy. Then not long ago WordPress made it possible to do collages — and I tried, and I did one.
But this time I failed utterly. What emerged was the slide show. But I much prefer the collages —
I suspect every platform (like Blogspot for you) does it differently.
I don’t really have any resources to share, what I have a lot of is what the Catholic Church calls invincible ignorance —

Blogspot is quite limited in terms of what you can do with photos. I do collages on Picmonkey – it’s free and easy to use.

Niki de Saint-Phalle’s Nanas, the real things, are maybe 6 feet tall, and VERY impressive. Google her work sometime, it’s a hoot. She has a whole Tarot Park of figures somewhere in Italy — inspired by the fortune-telling cards, natch.

Wonderful colours of the shower curtain! I love Marimekko! At the airport in Iceland they have a Marimekko store, but the stuff is a little pricey. It also gets a little confusing due to the Icelandic currency — a small bottle of mineral water is something like 12,000 Icelandic Crowns.
The colours also remind me of a dress my friend back home had bought. She likes flashy colours and they suit her well too. Now, she put it on, and her teenage son asked her «Is it a shower curtain??» 😆
As for the gallery … I don’t know exacty what you mean by collage — I know what a collage is, but the gallery option is under a tab on top of the box you have when you have uploaded all your pictures you want to include. There you choose how many columns et cetera. There are a few other options too, to make the pictures appear as circles — I tried it once but didn’t like it much.

Hey, Rebekah, glad the post amused you! Our bedsheets are the same as the Marimekko shower curtain, I love the lively colors.
By collage I mean the “stuck-together” effect you can get in the gallery, different-size pictures attached to each other. (I didn’t like the circles either when I saw them on someone’s blog.) The problem is that I could not find the gallery option! I looked, but didn’t see any tab anywhere. In your description it sounds like it comes between uploading the pictures and then choosing the columns, etc. I will look harder —

Love all the color. I am inspired to change all of my ‘little rooms’.
As far as the gallery goes, I don’t have my computer and it works differently on the iPad (which is all I have available at the moment) but there actually is a ‘gallery’ to click on. I’ve done it, but can’t remember without seeing it. If you haven’t found out by the time I’m back in front of my computer, I’ll try to get back to you with info. 🙂

The title caught me up! how funny! I love bright colors, how do you do to not stay in your bathroom all day long?!? it surely looks like a great place to be, better than at the museum! 😉
Now, about that slideshow instead of gallery : go to “settings,” “media,” and check the box for the tiled galleries to have a “cool display.” and then, when you download your images, change the gallery settings to “random” for example and click on “insert a gallery” not “insert a diaporama.” there it should be! 😉

Just a reminder if you haven’t ever used the gallery before: Go to your Dashboard, then Settings, then Media, then Image Gallery, and be sure to CHECK the box next to cool tiled mosaic gallery, or some such name. You only have to do that once —
The rest is uploading, etc. etc. where you normally find it in doing new posts.
But the initial enabling in Dashboard— that’s what took me so long to figure out!

Yes, it is one of the buildings, a pagoda, in a shrine in Kyoto. Japan was the most inspiringly photogenic place I have ever been in.
